In November 2009, Swiss drug maker Novartis AG opened its Holly Springs $1.2 billion facility to begin its approval process with the US FDS for production of flu vaccines. Novartis AG is one of the first companies to bring cell culture technology to the United States and the company plan is to use cell cultures to produce vaccines.
With growth, there comes the expansion of services. The small community consequently boasts some of the newest facilities in the area. Holly Springs Cultural Center opened in 2006. It features a large reception area in the grand lobby, space for outdoor performances, multi-purpose meeting rooms, and a state-of-the-art performing arts theatre. The $5 million complex also houses the beautiful Holly Springs Branch Library.
