Chapel Hill, NC annual Cupcake Festival in Chapel Hill, NC

Never anticipated so much fun during the cupcake contest at the Horace Williams House along Franklin Street in Chapel Hill, NC!  But, in fact, my daughter, Kempton, and I signed-up as volunteers working behind the scenes because we know the Preservation Society of Chapel Hill is tops as an organization to support.  As members of the Chapel Hill Service League, the sign-up to volunteer was so well organized by the Chapel Hill Service League, it was easy to show-up, slip into our assigned tasks, and enjoy the evening.  The annual cupcake competition was well-attended, in spite of the hurricane blowing-in from the east.   Young and old attended the event to enjoy the lovely display of cupcakes,  to sample the delicious treats, and/ or to enter a favorite cupcake in the competition.  The entries came from a wide, wide range of bakers.  There were four exquisite cupcake entries from the The Chocolate Door , owned by the sweet couple at 516 West Franklin Street.  (I heard the Mayan chocolate treat at the Chocolate Door is fabulous, by the way.)  But the endearing aspect of the cupcake competition is the fact that it’s for the young and old, inexperienced and experienced cupcake bakers, and newcomers integrating into the Chapel Hill mix of community pillars.  Next year, come on out and enjoy the evening!

Chapel Hill real estate along Franklin Street is gorgeous and the annual Cupcake Festival is an opportunity to enjoy the Horace Williams House and grounds.  Music under the tent, good food and drink, and a lovely experience along Franklin Street, make it a great introduction to the Preservation Society of Chapel Hill. PSCH Executive Director, Earnest Dollar, is one of the most eager-to-talk folks you can imagine and he’s a walking encyclopedia of history.  Want to talk more?  I’m always ready!  Vickie Healey at 919-357-5058 at www.VickieHealey.com .

Summertime in NC means BBQ, sweet tea, and good times. That’s exactly what KB Home dished up today in the Belcrest neighborhood in Durham, NC.   New construction home prices in Belcrest currently range from base prices of about $170,000 – $210,000 with floor plans that are two-story homes or one-level ranch homes.    Belcrest lawn care is provided by the homeowners’ association, even though these homes are single, detached homes.  That’s a wonderful things for busy people and it’s something I like to tell newcomers who are looking for a home.  Belcrest is located near Southpoint shopping, restaurants, and entertainment.  Want to chill out during a great summer movie?  The Southpoint movie theatre is right down Fayetteville Street, only a short distance away.  For more information about Belcrest homes, call me at 919-357-5058 or email me at VickieHealey@Realtor.com.    Visit our website at www.VickieHealey.com.  Belcrest is one of those neighborhoods that I like talking about!

Briar Chapel makes a home in Chapel Hill, NC more than a house

Newcomers looking for a new home in Chapel Hill, NC are excited about oppo0rtunities in Briar Chapel and what life in this new neighborhood means for them.   Over the last few months, I’ve been in Briar Chapel with newcomers buying homes or as a guest during events that are designed to be lots of fun.   Life is abuzz!  With six builders working to provide new homes, there’s always something exciting to see - new construction and beautiful homes.  But there’s more to the story!  Yesterday I had a blast in Briar Chapel during  Wine and Design, a two-hour adventure under the light-hearted instruction of wife-husband duo, Marianne Conti Burt and  Craig Burt.  Marianne and Craig are real gems when it comes to local artists who can teach those of us who are not artists,  as well as teaching those who have skills and talent,  making everybody feel relaxed and engaged.   From the start, music lifted us right into the mood of letting our creative selves burst forth, singing along with our paint brushes creating personal masterpieces to hang in our homes.   I had no idea what to expect when I ventured into this class, but I quickly learned it was like no class I’d ever attended.  It was fun, fun, fun, with canvas, paints, paintbrushes, and fantastic food provided by Briar Chapel.  At the end of the class, I left with the painting I created and new friendships that were launched during the class.   When I think of Briar Chapel, it’s the memory-making experiences that color the neighborhood, a place where home is more than just a house.   For one information about opportunities to make Briar Chapel your home,  email me at www.VickieHealey.com or call me at Realty World Southern Style, Inc., at 919-357-5058.

I love good news!  Rachel Grice’s report in Men’s Health Magazine gave us some good news for the Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, NC area in the recent article about angry cities.  Durham, NC was ranked low (#21) on a scale of 100 for angry cities.  The rage was gauged using data related to the number of specialist in anger-management per capita (American Psychological Association), the number of people with high blood pressure (CDC), the number of aggravated assaults per capita (FBI), and the amount of time spent in traffic during the rush hour (Texas Transportation Institute).   So when your looking for a new home in the Durham, NC area, take a deep breath and relax under Carolina blue skies – where foks are a little more cool and calm than you might find in some other areas of the country.  North Carolina is a great place to call home.  For more information about finding a home in Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, NC or the surrounding areas, call be at 919-357-5058 at Realty World Southern Style, Inc. or visit our website at www.VickieHealey.com

Today Carillon Forest looked beautiful under a Carolina blue sky.  Since the neighborhood is so close to Duke University and UNC, newcomers looking for a home in Durham or a home in Chapel Hill are often interested in knowing more about Carillon Forest.  So today, I stopped by the sales office to get the latest update and learned from the onsite sales agent that there are 5 homes ready for new owners, but presales are available, too.  When this lovely neighborhood is complete, there will be about 163 homes.  As of today, there are 30 lots available.   Carillon Forest is one of my favorite subdivisions, so call me at 919-357-5058 at Realty World Southern Style – or email me at VickieHealey@Realtor.com,  if you’d like to talk about this beautiful neighborhood.

Woodcroft in Durham, NC,  during any time of the year, is a great place to call home.   Newcomers moving to Durham,  Chapel Hill, or the Research Triangle area of North Carolina, will want to checkout Woodcroft where people get out-and-about in the fresh air.  Over the last few days, when I was in the neighborhood, neighbors were out walking with children,  walking the pets,  running, and, in general, using and enjoying the neighborhood.    How nice it is to live in a subdivision where being out-and-about is so handy.  For more information and to learn more about Woodcroft homes for sale, call Vickie Healey at 919-357-5058 with Realty World Southern Style, Inc. or visit the website at www.VickieHealey.com
